Design for a goat stable
2009
Undergraduate
Department of Architecture, University of Thessaly, Volos, Greece
Professor(s): Antonas Aristide
The need and usage of space differs through a year’s period, according to weather conditions and reproductive periods of the animals. The space of a goat stable consists of a sequence of inner and outer yards, able to manage the movement and separation of the flock.
The case study of the new building is capable to host 300 – 400 adult animals with their nanny-goats. It is placed on a site abut on two existing settlements, with a slight inclination of the ground. The founding of the new building and its roof are adjusted to the lie of the land, to use the natural flow of watering, feed and drainage. The basic idea is to construct a three dimensional grid where material frames move to create sequences of space.
